Heartstrings aka "You've fallen for me"

So, I was looking forward to this drama and it has aired in Korea. It looks so good. Since, it is fresh, I couldn't find English subs. But, I am adding a link to this amazing person's homepage. They have raw episodes out.  Also added a trailer of the drama.

I am also really liking the OST "See my eyes."

T-ara's Roly Poly vs. GD and TOP's Don't Go Home

Both music videos have the retro vibe going on. In terms of song, I prefer GD and TOP's Don't Go home. But in terms of music video, T-ara takes the cake. BTW, I do know GD and Top's music video is older but it is only now we can all see it. So, which song/music video do you like best.

P.S: I do like both groups. So, no hating and fan wars, okay!

P.P.S: I can totally see Simon and Martina reviewing both videos.

2ne1 "I am the Best" Music Video is finally revealed!

So, it is here. They gave CL Horns, all the girls lots of swagger (not that they were lacking any) and guns.

Hana Kimi Japanese Version 2.0

So, they are doing another live action of Hana Kimi in Japan. I don't really see the need to remake it but I guess there was a demand? I would've rather preferred that they had a done Japanese live action of Skip Beat or Ouran High school Host Club. AKB48's Maeda Atsuko will star in it. Don't know if she is a good actress but I do like few of their songs.

P.S: I had made a mistake earlier. I have corrected it. As a reader, please feel free to point out mistakes. Sometimes, I miss them.

2ne1's Inkigayo Comeback Stage

So, my favourite K-pop group performed their new single, "I am the best" on Inkigayo. As usual, they killed it in terms of performance. When I first heard the song, I wasn't too fond of it. I prefer the girls natural voice rather than the auto tune vocals. But the song really grew on me. The girls also achieved an all kill on music charts.

BTW, they always give Dara weird hairstyles. On the other hand, she's so pretty she can make a paper bag look stylish. Bom looks like a doll, Minzi looks fierce and Cl very sexy.

IIFA Green Carpet at Toronto (Some Thoughts)

OMG, I've never seen Toronto like this and we host a lot of celebrities here. I mean Bieber is Canadian and he was at the MMVAS. The Bollywood fans just went crazy. The Indian actresses are all stunningly gorgeous. Shahrukh Khan is such a humble pie. He's seriously sooo sweet to his fans. Arshad Warsi is just so funny and down to heart. Bipasha was a sweetheart and gave a shout out to Brampton. Zeenat is one classy lady. The Deols and Hema Malini are fun and love Canada. Arjun Rampal is one handsome dude. Sridevi is here. Soooooo many stars in Toronto. As an  Indo Canadian, I am extremely glad IIFA was held here. Go Bollywood ;D

I really need to digest all this craziness. I will comeback with a more thoughtful, reflective post tomorrow.

Shahrukh Khan at IIfA Buzz Party

Last night, my dad went to an IIFA party. It's main draw was that Shahrukh Khan and Vivek Oberoi would be there. My dad said he gets nervous while taking pictures and he cannot see that well. So, there were few pictures on the camera. He has a lot more pictures of Shahrukh Khan on his cellphone camera. I have to transfer them on computer and it will take some time because I am going to work today and tomorrow.

Shahrukh Khan (he's the one on stage)

If you click on the pictures, they become bigger and more clear. :O

That white speck in the front is Vivek Oberoi

IIFA Double Dhamaal Premiere in Brampton

First of all, I'd like to say Shahrukh Khan is here in Toronto for IIFA. Woohoo. My dad went to see the stars of Double Dhamaal at Silver City, Brampton. I did not go because I had other plans.  My Dad is not a very good photographer and therefore the pictures did not come out that great. I had pictures of close ups of the stars but were too blurry to post. Nevertheless, I was able to sift and find some decent pictures to share.

Jaaved Jaaferi

Kangana Ranaut

Malaika Sherawat

Daesung's car accident Findings revealed!

So, it was Daesung who was the ultimate cause of the death of the victim. I don't know what else to say. I think this Seoulbeats article sums up my feelings about the whole incident.

IIFA Soundtrack Part 2

This soundtrack is for people who aren't familiar with Bollywood. It is a mix of South Asian diasporic sounds and old school Bollywood. Let's call it Hipster meets Bollywood.

I know picking Das Racist might sound odd but this song does have an Indian sound to it. The lyrics are satirical.

IIFA Soundtrack Part 1

Since, IIFA is coming here, I am sure there will be a lot of Bollywood/India/Southasia themed parties. I've decided to list some soundtracks. They are all themed and the first one is for hardcore IIFA fan. I am calling this the IIFA Nuts Party. The songs are from nominated movies in Best movie, Best Director and Best Actress categories.

Enjoy and yes, I do love Band Baaja Baraat. It has the best soundtrack.

Is Hallyu wave in Europe being overstated?

I felt really glad that so many European fans got to go to SM town concert in Paris. But, the news in Korea seems abuzz that K-pop is the next big thing in Europe. I don't think that's the case yet. I do think k-pop's still got a long way to go before it becomes successful in the West. The truth is that most people in Canada have never heard of K-pop. Most of my friends aren't interested in K-pop; Believe me, I've tried enticing them but they just don't care. For some the language barrier is too big and sadly others find the music too bubblegum for their taste. I've got relatives in Germany and my brother's got friends there. The girls who are young listen to American music and bands like Paramore. They don't seem interested in K-pop stuff. I do think they need to market K-pop to fans of Manga. They are a lot of young girls who are fans of mangas/manhwas and would see a live action. They are open minded and listen to J-pop. K-pop would naturally fit their tastes. So, K-pop still gotta try harder!

Why I like Amber and other strong female idols!

Amber

There's a lot of buzz on the Internet over whether Amber from f(x) is a lesbian. I am not a fan of  f(x) but I do like Amber. I think she's one of the most talented members of that group and she doesn't fit into the traditional mold of cute K-pop idol. Of course, this doesn't mean Amber isn't cute or beautiful but she's not cookie cutter cute like Yoona. In fact, I personally do gravitate toward K-pop idols who are immensely talented but have a strong image.

When 2ne1 debuted, I was immediately drawn to CL. I was also impressed by Minzy. It was only after 2ne1 TV that I warmed up to Bom and Dara.

Source: colegioexcelsior.com

Same goes with Narsha from Brown Eyed Girls. She had such a strong presence in her videos and stage performances, I was drawn to her. K-pop universe is filled with beautiful idols. Some of them are talented and successful and some are successful *cough* Kara *cough* but do not have the strongest vocals. Maybe it is my Western bias but I do tend to gravitate toward personalities that are strong and individualistic. I'd rather watch some one interesting and thought provoking than cute and bland. So, go ahead and bring out the personalities ladies.

On a completely different note, if S.M. entertainment decides to do a Korean version of Hana Kimi, I want Amber to be Ashiya Mizuki.

2ne1 "I am the best" Teaser

2ne1 is my favourite girl group and they just seem to get better and better. Last night, I rewatched their radio interviews because I am so excited about their comeback. Lonely was amazing. Although this is just a teaser, I am sure the song will become number one in no time.

Please enjoy the teaser. I believe this is CL.

Bipasha at IIFA Buzz in Brampton

Sorry for the lack of posts, I was very busy this weekend. Bipasha Basu attended the IIfa Buzz at Brampton and wowed the crowd. She is really beautiful in real life. She's very tiny not in stature but you know quite slim. My Dad took the pictures and they are not very clear. Our camera gave us lot of trouble that day. Anyway, Please enjoy.

The show was hosted by Lisa Ray of Water fame and Mohit Rajhans of Bollywood Boulevard at Omni 2.

RDB and Nindy Kaur were also present.

Beautiful Bipasha and Mayor Susan Fennel.

There was also a fashion show from Bollywood Designer Dinesh Ramsey.

Vancouver Stanley Cup Debacle

I was debating whether to do this post. After all, the blog is not about NHL. On the other hand, I live in Canada and events here do affect me. Now, some of you may not know but Ice hockey is big here. It is part of most Canadians identity. So, yesterday Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup. They deserved it. Before you accuse me of my East Coast Bias, let me tell you I was hoping Vancouver Canucks were going to win. They didn't and I accepted that and went back to sleep. However, some idiots decided to destroy businesses, properties and police cars in Vancouver. These thugs also dragged down the name of the city in the mud. I truly feel sorry for Vancouverites. I remember the G20 protests in Toronto when some anarchists hijacked legitimate protests and many innocent people got arrested. These idiots should be put in jail and for future Hockey Fans, Please do not cause a riot if your team wins or loses.

For more news on the incident, Read this article from Vancouver Sun.

Also, many Vancouvrites helped clean the city. More information on this over here.

IIFA Update: Celebrities coming to Toronto

Check out this National Post article about celebrities that have confirmed they are coming to Toronto.

T.O Star confirms SRK is coming too. Read full article here

Another T.O Star article confirms Shilpa Shetty of Celebrity Big Brother fame is also coming.

Can't wait for IIFA and how Toronto will be showcased to the world.

Hayate the Combat Butler and Skip Beat live Action

I'll confess I am more excited about Skip Beat live action than I am for Hayate the Combat Butler. I like Park Shin Hye but I am more excited about her upcoming Korean Drama heartstrings. Nevertheless, I am sure there are people who can't wait to see Hayate the Combat Butler live action.

Check out the trailers for both shows.

There are a lot of trailers for Hayate the Combat Butler. I only showed the ones I liked.

Now to Skip Beat. I am really excited about this live action. The actors or idols look like the characters in the manga.

This is a behind the scene filming segement and has an Eng sub.

f(x) decides to do a cover of Hot Summer, WHY?

Why does SM Entertainment wants me to hate them? Why? So, f(x) is doing a cover of Monrose's Hot summer. Maybe I am being overly emotional but I do have a history with the song. 4 years ago, my aunt with her family came to visit us from Germany. My cousin who was only five at the time loved listening to music. We would play Beyonce, B.E.P for him. For some reason he would always ask us to play Hot Hot Hot. I had no idea who Monrose were. After searching multiple times on Youtube we finally found this song. So, Hot summer is forever in my mind as my Cousin's song. f(x) is covering it but from little I can hear, I am probably not gonna like it. Monrose were a German group but their English was flawless. I dunno, SM needs to stop buying these Euro songs.

f(x)'s cutesy version Video Teaser. Ughhh!

Monrose's real hot version

Delhi Belly's Music and Hallyu wave in India

My sister showed me this video and I was so impressed. I know a lot of Canadian Desis (South Asians) who are fan of k-pop but I didn't know there were fans from India too. Its nice to see Hallyu wave coming to India although I do not think it is really big there. It will be cool if I could talk about K-pop with my Indian cousins. One day, it will happen.

Anyhoo check out her video. It is a cover Lonely. She can also dance. Her channel is called kyufleck.

On the Bollywood front, really excited about Delhi Belly. What's so great about the songs are that there so many different genres, there's a punk song (oh yeah) , awesome Hip Hop Punjabi song (its a parody) and a Qawwali (also a parody).

Bhaag DK Bose

Switty Tera Pyaar

Nakkaddwaley Disco, Udhaarwaley Khisko

The songs are fun and the music videos are hilarious and yes Indian expletives are cleverly hidden. No, I will not point them out. Penchar, Penchar, Peeennnchaaar.

SM Town Paris

All you lucky French fans. I am sooo jealous. Man, I wish I was there. SM Entertainment you need to hold a concert in Canada and not only in Vancouver. You've got fans in Toronto also. Please. I want to see Super Junior and Shinee. Anyway, you can see the performances on Youtube at SM's channel. SuJu were the best. I wanna see Donghae, Heechul and Siwon live.

Hyunah's Performance in Dancing with the Stars

I got a lot of hits for Korean Dancing with the Stars. Probably people who wanted to see the show.

Here is a video of her performance.  Go to the person's channel and support them.

She did quickstep and was good. I do think she has an edge in the competition because she is a dancer.

Nerdy panda is so Proud!

My Lil brother (he's actually 19) was working diligently to fix up his room and closet. His room was a disaster and like most average North American homes, the closet was small. We needed to do something ASAP to utilize the full space. Lil Panda decided to make shelves. I helped (a little).

Here are the results. I swear this blog is not going to turn into a home improvement one.

Disastrous Room

Just Look at that mess. It is too ugly.

Now with some shelves Lil Panda built himself.

Sorry for the crappy images. Our camera sucks and we need to upgrade. We are still looking for a good sale. Lil Panda took the pictures himself. He was very proud and wanted the whole world to acknowledge his efforts. BTW, since I decided to help him, I am getting my closet done also. YAY.

IIfa Events in GTA (Part 2)

IIfa Events in GTA

Hey guys, there is The IIFA Buzz Fest Brampton Festival on Saturday June 18, 2011. The gorgeous Bipasha Basu will be there. It is going to be held at Gage Park/Garden Square (Rose Theatre). Since I live 15 minutes from downtown Brampton and pretty much see Gage Park everyday I went to University, I am so excited. Bipasha is going to be in my town. Also Rhythm, Dhol, Bass (RDB) will be there performing. Oh, this is so excited. Please come if you live in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Here is a link to Brampton City's site that provides all details to the fest.

To those of you who do not know who RDB are, I am posting one of their famous Bollywood song. Yes, it was used last year in So you think you can Dance (USA). The guys and Nindy Kaur make an appearance in the video.

Korean Dancing with the Stars

Sorry for lack of regular posts. As I had previously mentioned, I was going to lose the internet connection and well that has happened. All I can do is now wait for new service. I am getting really angsty because this means I'll have a hard time watching my K-dramas. I still haven't seen ep. 9 of Lie to Me. On another news, Hyunah is going to be part of Korean Dancing with the Stars. I thought that in the American version, all the contestants were people whose careers had tanked and they were trying to revive it back. I guess the Korean version is not the same.

Below is the Korean, Indian and American version of Dancing with the Stars.

Korean promo of Dancing with the Stars. This is Season 1.

The Indian version is called Jhalak Dikhla Jaa (Season 4). One of the judges is Madhuri Dixit. Do you remember her from intro to Bollywood actresses?

The American Version (2010) with Hasselhoff. I know this is old but wasn't he awful yet entertaining. I was trying to find a good clip with Christie this year but Youtube took it down.

Celebrity Hate Mail

Hi, Sorry for lack of posts. I've been under the weather and didn't feel like doing much. However, that didn't stop me from watching my favourite Asian dramas. How awesome was the Cola Kiss in Lie to me?  But the ending, Gah. I wanna smack Yoon Joo. Oh, Best Love is also making me cry. I love Dokko Jin. Anyway, this post is about the crap people post on Internet anonymously about celebrities. Warning: if you don't like reading rants, do not read this!!!!

I'll be honest there are tons of celebrities I do not like. If they are actors, maybe I do not like their acting. Some celebrities have attitude problem. Some I like but they or their stylist chooses to dress them like clowns. These are what I consider legitimate criticisms. What I don't get is the vitriol and hate some celebrities get without any legit criticism being presented. Here are some of the comments of celebrities who just get hate for the weirdest reason

Aishwarya Rai

Source: bollygraph.com

There just seems to be a lot of vitriol against her. Also, many women seem to hate her. It just saddens me that the women are harsher on another women simply because she is successful. Again I understand that people might find her personality too cold, her acting underwhelming and her clothing choices blah. But the women is beautiful. I do think she is a decent actress. What I don't get is when people anonymously post she's a slut, a whore. Now such comments are posted on almost every female celebrities music video, web site, etc. However, I do not see what Ash did to merit such comments. Is it the "skimpy" clothes in Dhoom 2. Because, seriously she is an actress and she can choose to wear whatever she wants. None of her actions suggest she is in fact a "skank."

Female Idols in Korea also get criticized for the wrong reason. Case in point: Bom of 2ne1 is Fat.

Source: en.korea.com

Um, are they blind? Sure her face might be full and not gaunt but the girl ain't fat. Have you ever seen a Fat person. Personally, I hate the word fat. It gets abused around and perfectly healthy girls are targeted and made to feel awful about themselves. I am a believer in healthy weight. Canada is suffering from a large number of people are obese and yes I'd love them to lose weight for the right reasons i.e. to live longer and be with their family.

Source: asianpopcorn.com

I know Suzy from Miss A has been called fat. Dear Suzy girl, you are perfectly fine the way you are and believe me there are tons of girls who'd probably love to look like you.

Some celebrities are called too mannish. This is for soe reason attributed to awesome Tilda Swinton.

Source: topnews.in

I, seriously, love this women. She is a great actress and so diffferent. I just am fine with people criticizing as long it is not hateful.
