Updates, My Girl and Oscars!

I am finally back posting on the blog. Things are extremely busy academically and yup, its my excuse for the lack of posts. Don't expect regular updates until I am done this semester in April. It is quite crazy how busy I am. Despite my busy schedule, I managed to get my lovely mom and dad hooked on the Korean Drama My Girl. My mom and  dad got so addicted, they'd make excuses to watch the episodes. My mission to start this blog was to get people to get familiar with Asian dramas. I may not have managed to do that but at least I got my skeptical parents to join in the Asian drama appreciation.
So, I watched Oscars yesterday and what a bore eh? Yes, I was rooting for the King's Speech and Colin Firth to won yippe! But, James Franco was on something. Aishwarya Rai, the stunning Bollywood actress attended the Oscars but since there was no coverage of her on American or Canadian TV, what was she doing there? I dunno, I had to search for her pics yesterday. My princess is finished, I am kinda sad. But since, I never watched My girlfriend is a gumiho, I started watching it on reading week. So far, it's been funny and cute and oh, it is by the Hong sisters who gave us My girl. Anywho, just wanted to update y'all, I haven't disappeared. Just been very busy this February.

Read about Beard Papa's opening in Pacific Mall at Toronto Star and I knew I had to get my hands on their cream puffs. So, my family trekked to Pacific Mall yesterday and got me one of their delicious creamy goodness. Here are some pics:

A is for Arashi

Like Kat-Tun, I am going to introduce Japanese boy bands to people who don't know anything about them. Why the introduction? Well, I believe in sharing good things and Japanese boy bands are awesomely addictive.  Arashi is a platinum selling, Oricon topping boy band. Like Kat-Tun, it was created by the Johnny and associates talent agency. FYI, this agency churns out some of the hottest Japanese idols like Jin Akanishi. Arashi consists of five members Kazunari Ninomiya, Masaki Aiba, Jum Matsumoto, Satoshi Ohno, and Sho Sakurai. All these members are very popular/visible on television. I'd say after SMAP, Arashi has been the most popular boy band in terms of success. KAT-TUN and NEWS I think are respectively third and fourth. I am putting a video of their songs.  They've got many no.1hits and picking just one as an example was hard. So, based on my mood today, I decided to pick this. It is called Love Situation. Enjoy:D

The Awesome Indian Train song

So, I've been pretty lazy with my posting. Not been feeling my best lately. Maybe its just February. Gosh, it is so dreary outside. Not even My Princess perks me up. Okay, it does but the effect is not long lasting. Been watching a lot of mainstream TV shows like The Good wife, Modern Family and Nikita. How awesome is Kalinda eh? But Blake's really been pissing me off. Been listening to Das racist over and over again. They are so fun to listen to. Oh, watch the brown parody of ShamWow known as Banainwow. The guy's from the same city as me and as I was watching the vid, I realized that he doesn't live that far from where I live. Weird huh! Well he's pretty funny but then so is Russel Peters and he's also from the same town. I guess, it is something in the water here. Anyway just YouTube JusReign. I also realized my good old high school finally has a wiki page. Is it weird to google your school? Also realized, I've been pretty harsh on good ol' Bollywood. So, here's some Bollywood love from me to you. Oh, god that sounded cheesy.
Er, here it is:

Yup, it is the song that was played in the Inside Man.

Indian Moral police and Shibuhara girls.

So, In India a case was filed against Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu because of her cover in Maxim. In India, there are many problems with child hunger, poverty, female infanticide and here's this guy who has time for such frivolity. Seriously, get a life. I like Bipasha because she is strong, independent women who is comfortable with her sexuality. She's been always classy instead of vulgar. Here's a pic of Bips "offending cover":

The pic is from the indiandaily.com

On another topic, does anyone know where us non Japanese people can watch Shibuhara girls. It is by MTV and apparently based on the Hills. I really wanna watch this show. Please someone sub this show! You can learn more about the show at MTV Asia. over here.

Here's a teaser:

Weird Bollywood Crud!

Its always strange to see the most random awful videos on YouTube getting a lot of hits. This is especially true for Bollywood songs.
The following video got more than 19 million hits and it sucks. Song's called Love mera hit hit. Yeah, I wanna hit myself in the head when I see your awful plagiarized song Shahrukh Khan. (To all his fans, I don't hate him, just this song).

This video's got like 7 million hits and the lyrics suck.

And we twist and twist and twist...and my damn mind is gonna blow. So annoying this song.

Okay, I am a sucker for old school Bollywood. Don'tcha think, it deserves more hits?

It's got lyrics that are so different from the usual Hindi songs. You can get translations from Hindi lyrics. net. They are ok translations.
