Happy New Year Everybody!

Hope this is a start of an amazing 2012 for all my readers. Hopefully, I'll be able to improve and bring better content to my readers. I know it is not New Years Eve but I leave you with this awesome song from Zooey Deschanel and my love Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

G DRAGON smokes dope and other links!

What is with Korea this year? I swear there have been more scandals in 2011 than previous three years.
Anyhoo, GD smoked Marijuana and well got caught. Since, it was accidental, the police let him go. Still, what about the kids. Now, I will always look at "High High" suspiciously. Read the rest of the story here.
BTW, kids DO NOT DO DRUGS! SMOKING IS BAD, VERY BAD!

Meet Kim Jong Il's Grandson! Unlike gramps, he actually supports democracy.

Why I Dislike PETA. Yes, I am a Vegetarian!

Nikita (TV Show) Being Shot at University of Toronto

So, today I was passing by a part of University and saw a bunch of trailers. I looked at them closely and they were for the CW show Nikita. It is not the first time they've shot there because I saw these trailers last year too. But, this year actually looked at them closely saw Nikita posted on the doors. No, I didn't see Maggie. I've got no pictures because just when I tried to take one from my cell, a big security guy walked by and stared at me. I didn't dare. Still think its pretty cool that there were trailers right outside my classroom.

So long Summer...

So, today is officially the start of Autumn. The leaves have started to turn colour, the weather has turned gray and the air is crisp and cool. I'll miss summer, the crazy humidity we have in Toronto, the clear blue skies, the pretty flowers.

So, here let me share some of my Summer memories:

I ate Greasy Indian food at a restaurant on my Dad's birthday.

Yum, I love Malai Kofta

I spent some time outdoors.

Scored some comic books at a Garage Sale in my neighbourhood. This is just a small sampling.

Ate some delicious homemade South Indian Food on Onam.

Tried on my sister's bling and enjoyed some awesome K-dramas.

Ouran High School Host club Ep. 7 Link

Finally links to Ep. 7. It is raw but I recommend reading recaps at A Koala's Playground.

Also, link to my sister's tumblr. She is big Jaejoong fan so I expect lots of pics of him in the future. Also, Big Bang and Jang Geun Suk. Its pretty recent so not much stuff posted.

Seriously, am so tired from school. Yesterday was especially hellish because I came home late at night and had to read an article my prof. posted really late on the blackboard. Then, I had to wake up super early to catch my bus. I was seriously sleeping through my class. I hope to do a proper post tomorrow.

Vancouver Stanley Cup Debacle

I was debating whether to do this post. After all, the blog is not about NHL. On the other hand, I live in Canada and events here do affect me. Now, some of you may not know but Ice hockey is big here. It is part of most Canadians identity. So, yesterday Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup. They deserved it. Before you accuse me of my East Coast Bias, let me tell you I was hoping Vancouver Canucks were going to win. They didn't and I accepted that and went back to sleep. However, some idiots decided to destroy businesses, properties and police cars in Vancouver. These thugs also dragged down the name of the city in the mud. I truly feel sorry for Vancouverites. I remember the G20 protests in Toronto when some anarchists hijacked legitimate protests and many innocent people got arrested. These idiots should be put in jail and for future Hockey Fans, Please do not cause a riot if your team wins or loses.

For more news on the incident, Read this article from Vancouver Sun.

Also, many Vancouvrites helped clean the city. More information on this over here.

Celebrity Hate Mail

Hi, Sorry for lack of posts. I've been under the weather and didn't feel like doing much. However, that didn't stop me from watching my favourite Asian dramas. How awesome was the Cola Kiss in Lie to me?  But the ending, Gah. I wanna smack Yoon Joo. Oh, Best Love is also making me cry. I love Dokko Jin. Anyway, this post is about the crap people post on Internet anonymously about celebrities. Warning: if you don't like reading rants, do not read this!!!!

I'll be honest there are tons of celebrities I do not like. If they are actors, maybe I do not like their acting. Some celebrities have attitude problem. Some I like but they or their stylist chooses to dress them like clowns. These are what I consider legitimate criticisms. What I don't get is the vitriol and hate some celebrities get without any legit criticism being presented. Here are some of the comments of celebrities who just get hate for the weirdest reason

Aishwarya Rai

Source: bollygraph.com

There just seems to be a lot of vitriol against her. Also, many women seem to hate her. It just saddens me that the women are harsher on another women simply because she is successful. Again I understand that people might find her personality too cold, her acting underwhelming and her clothing choices blah. But the women is beautiful. I do think she is a decent actress. What I don't get is when people anonymously post she's a slut, a whore. Now such comments are posted on almost every female celebrities music video, web site, etc. However, I do not see what Ash did to merit such comments. Is it the "skimpy" clothes in Dhoom 2. Because, seriously she is an actress and she can choose to wear whatever she wants. None of her actions suggest she is in fact a "skank."

Female Idols in Korea also get criticized for the wrong reason. Case in point: Bom of 2ne1 is Fat.

Source: en.korea.com

Um, are they blind? Sure her face might be full and not gaunt but the girl ain't fat. Have you ever seen a Fat person. Personally, I hate the word fat. It gets abused around and perfectly healthy girls are targeted and made to feel awful about themselves. I am a believer in healthy weight. Canada is suffering from a large number of people are obese and yes I'd love them to lose weight for the right reasons i.e. to live longer and be with their family.

Source: asianpopcorn.com

I know Suzy from Miss A has been called fat. Dear Suzy girl, you are perfectly fine the way you are and believe me there are tons of girls who'd probably love to look like you.

Some celebrities are called too mannish. This is for soe reason attributed to awesome Tilda Swinton.

I, seriously, love this women. She is a great actress and so diffferent. I just am fine with people criticizing as long it is not hateful.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Trailer

I had the strangest dream today in which a girl blackmailed me to post the last chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and e-mail it to all my friends. Also in the dream a creepy Ken Doll came to life came to life and married a Chelsy Davy look alike. Also for some unexplainable reason Scheduler I mean Jung Il Woo was in it. I never dream about celebrities. It was really weird.

Maybe it was my subconscious telling me to post this trailer. I wasn't planning to although I am a big Harry Potter Fan.

49 Days: Thoughts and Reflections and The Mentalist Finale

Sorry for not blogging but I needed some time to reflect on the amazing Korean show 49 days and The Mentalist Season 3 Finale. Before I go any further, Let me say, this discussion contains spoilers. Please stop if you still have not seen the finale.

Wow, the finale. It was amazing. While, I was watching episode 19, my sister remarked that Yi Kyung probably wasn't going to end up romantically with Kang. It just made sense. From the beginning, I had guessed that the tears were going to come fom Kang, Seo Woo and In Jung so I wasn't shocked. But, what was pleasant was how the events I expected from the beggining came in such a way in the later episodes that they became surprising. I was surprised by the whole Yi Kyung being Ji hyun's sister. I didn't think it was necessary but I wasn't unhappy about it. Now, to the most important revelation.  Ji Hyun dies. Was I sad? Yes. Did it make sense for her to die? Sorta yeah! Sure, I wanted my Ji hyun to have a fairytale ending with Kang. I loved these characters. But the story is about life and death. Life is never easy and death is unexpected. 49 Days was a boon for Ji Hyun because she could protect her family, reconnect with a person who truly loved her and live a life that made a difference. 49 days is in the same league as the drama Devil (Mawang). They are the sort of shows that entertain you but also make the viewers think, reflect , ponder.

49 Days is a Must watch Korean Drama

Now, to The Mentalist Finale. It is an American TV show I've been watching for 3 years. This and Castle are my favourite crime shows. Okay, I also really liked Body of Proof this season. Um, why am I talking about it? Red John is exposed in this finale or is he? The ending left me feeling uncomfortable yet satisfied. Wow, probably the best finale in this shows history. I'll be honest, I didn't like Craig and knew from the start of this episode that he would be the mole. Glad he's dead.  I expect to see a lot more of Hightower. I really liked her. Do you think Lisbon survives the gun shots. And Patrick, does he descent more into darkness or does he finally confront his own demons? I have so many questions, I cannot wait for Season 4.

P.S; I'll do a intro to Bollywood actors. Super excited! Also, I still have a lot more to say about Baby faced Beauty.

Hope y'all spend some quality time with your Moms and yes, you do need to buy/make her a present :D

I will do a proper post later.

Links, Links, Links!

I removed the Bin Laden Post because um, my mom told me to do so and you know Mother's day is coming. So, yeah, had to do it. I was too lazy to rewrite the post on Korean culture which I'll post by tomorrow. But, meanwhile posting links to other blogs I go. I am currently watching 49 days, Drunken to Love you and Sunny Happiness. To read recaps and other news, I 've started going to this blog. It's really good. It's called A koala's Playground.

For gossip not just about Bollywood but rest of Indian entertainment industry (Telugu, Tamil etc), check out Filmi girl.

Both of these sites are great and the bloggers invest a lot of time. They are so knowledgeable. I am just a student whose purpose for this blog is to have fun and to get my family and friends watching Asian dramas.

Anyhoo enjoy. Will do a proper post tomorrow, ok.

Updates, My Girl and Oscars!

I am finally back posting on the blog. Things are extremely busy academically and yup, its my excuse for the lack of posts. Don't expect regular updates until I am done this semester in April. It is quite crazy how busy I am. Despite my busy schedule, I managed to get my lovely mom and dad hooked on the Korean Drama My Girl. My mom and  dad got so addicted, they'd make excuses to watch the episodes. My mission to start this blog was to get people to get familiar with Asian dramas. I may not have managed to do that but at least I got my skeptical parents to join in the Asian drama appreciation.
So, I watched Oscars yesterday and what a bore eh? Yes, I was rooting for the King's Speech and Colin Firth to won yippe! But, James Franco was on something. Aishwarya Rai, the stunning Bollywood actress attended the Oscars but since there was no coverage of her on American or Canadian TV, what was she doing there? I dunno, I had to search for her pics yesterday. My princess is finished, I am kinda sad. But since, I never watched My girlfriend is a gumiho, I started watching it on reading week. So far, it's been funny and cute and oh, it is by the Hong sisters who gave us My girl. Anywho, just wanted to update y'all, I haven't disappeared. Just been very busy this February.

The Indian Matrix

I just noticed I made a big boo boo on the last post. I've fixed it. Y'all can let me know If I spell incorrectly. Gosh, I feel stupid. I also noticed I have lame ass titles for my post but I am a newbie blogger, I am still learning. I also read We were there vol. 11. I know its kinda late but I can only read em when I have time. This volume is sooooo sad. Yano's such a tragic character. I hope this manga doesn't end at a sad note. I really do like Nanami as a character and hate that Yuri Yamamoto. Gosh, it's wrong to feel so much dislike for a character. Anywho, on a more happier note, check this out.
It never fails to make me laugh. Yeah, I am lame like that. I'll shut up now.

Japanese Fashion and Kawaii obsession

Hey sorry for the sluggish rate of posts. Busy with student life. So, I am gonna be a lazy ass and give you link to these fun sites you can waste spend your time on.

I've always been intrigued by Japanese fashion, it's so different and fun. I love the various Japanese sub cultures like Lolita, Kogal etc. For those of you who may not know what I am talking about, Wiki does do an awesome job by making the terminology accessible to people who know nothing about Japan..

If you Google Japanese street fashion, you'll get a lot of hits.
Here are some fun ones.

Fashion Japan: In English, loads of fun. Can spend day looking through all the "models."

Style Arena: It is in Japanese but you can get it translated in English. Anyway, it's fine since you are looking at pictures. Another great site, love how they highlight these cool shops. I seriously copy the shop names and put them in my folder called things to do in Japan list. Sadly my dream to go to Japan is still far far away.

Harajukustyle: Oh, if you are into visual Kei or just want to try out any of the Japanese fashion trends, check them out. They've got links to cool online shops.
Since, I love Kawaii (cute) accessories and stationery, I especially recommend Chicki. I want the Gloomy Bear file. Well, someone's birthday is next month, I hope my benefactors cough parents cough are listening.

Here's some of the items I lust from Chicki.
The Mario Plush bag. There was a guy in my class last year who had a Ninja turtle bag and ever since that day, I've had major bag envy. This bag would rectify it.

This cute pocket mirror. The tags got a Panda on it. Awww.  It is god's way of telling me that I have a right to purchase this.

Totoro Wallet

I confess, if I was loaded I'd buy everything from this site. They do ship to Canada. Yay.

All the images are of course from Chicki.co.uk.

BTW, I tried to scan some of the images from Kimi ni todoke vol.6 for this blog but it didn't work out. My printer is possessed and I need to exorcise it by taking it to the tech geeks at Best Buy. If it gets fixed, I'll post more manga updates and reviews. I promise.

Encounters of a creepy kind

Once upon a time, an awesome person known as Nerdy panda decided to go to University in Toronto. Her mode of transporation was the subway. Alas, Nerdy panda encountered foes aka the creepy dudes. She learned how to handle them and now teaches other awesome people to identify these creepy crawlies.

So, here's Nerdy panda's guide to identify and battle these vermins:

First up is the pathetic middle aged dude.
This dude is just pathetic. He's middle age, losing hair and hates his job. He likes to butt in the conversation of young college girls and likes to give them unsolicitated advice. He starts out by saying how he'll love to help you with your essay (which is creepy) and then goes in a full blown rant about his job. You can see how he hates his job and might even feel sorry for him. Except, this dude does not know when to shut up.

Best way to handle him: Turn on your ipod, if this doesn't give him a clue, change seats.

Second is the Old creepy bussissness dude.
He's old and creepy and wants to know all about your culture. I mean, seriously dude you wanna know all about Indian people, go read a book. He starts out polite but suddenly starts asking personal questions and starts making you very uncomfortable.

Best way to handle him: Politely tell him to shut up. Er, I mean that your private life does not concern him. Shut him down girlfriends! If you wanna be evil like moi, you give him fabricated personal information that will start making him very unconfortable.

Now we are going from annoying but harmless dudes to icky creepy dangerous territory.
Third is the creepy young dude.

On surface he looks like an average young dude and suddenly he says something that makes you look up from your readings. You stare at him and realize that he's smiling/staring at you in a very icky way. Your blood turns cold at his stare and you look around at other passengers.

How to handle him: Obey your sixth sense. I would exit at the next stop even if its not my stop.

This one's just sad. Its the crazy homeless dude.
I'd like to say that I have seen homeless people on the subway and they usually are not troublesome. The homeless guy I am talking about clearly suffered from some form of mental illness but did not get the help he needed. He was swearing heavily and wanted to get in a scuffle with the passengers. He's siiting right across you and some stupid passenger keeps swearing back at him. The environment in the subway is getting more  and more hostile. Luckily, the guy leaves and the rest of the passengers ignore the foulmouth homeless guy.
Best way to handle this situation is sadly to ignore the guy, get off next stop or change the car.

The Art work is by my younger sister. I can't even draw good stick figures. Pathetic, that's me.

Golden Globes, K-pop and more!

First of all, saw Golden Globes yesterday. How awesome was Paul Giamatti's shot out to Canada. Loved it! Also, finally read Kimi ni todoke vol. 6. It was so good, this series been getting better and better. Oh, can't wait to read next volume. I'll do a more detailed post on the manga later.

Oh, check out this 2ne1 song. Its called Don't stop the music. It's for a commercial, how cool is that? I wish we had commercials like that in Canada.

That's all you get from me today. Now, I must go and do my readings on Canadian Foreign policy.

Happy New Years :D

So, its New Years, eh? Time to wipe out all the sucky things that happened to you last year and making new resolutions you know you can't stick to. Also, the time to reflect on last year's accomplishments. Here's some of mine:
1. Got high on sugar (Yes, that is an accomplishment).
2. Managed to read mangas over my course readings and didn't fail University.
3. Took a summer course and worked but managed to watch  Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge. Kame is so cute.
4. Got a new part-time job while starting a blog.
5. Read blogs instead of going on facebook but still retained friends (they are incredibly patient and nice).

All in all, my accomplishments are sorta um bland except getting high on sugar, my new drug. Okay, its the only other drug except caffeine. My New Years resolution is to graduate, get a job, make bazillions of $ so I can pay the student loans, read even more mangas and keep blogging. :)

T-shirts after my own heart

If the blog name doesn't give you a clue, I am a grumpy person. I complain about weather, my job, my university, my grades, expensive silkscreened T-shirts. I am too much of a Scrooge to shell out money for T-shirts with "clever" sayings. Yet, the following t-shirts are so awesome, they even make me smile.

Here's Grumpy girl T-shirts

Image is from popgadget.net
Oh Grumpy Girl, that's how 99% of my mornings are. Infact, writing the blog is one of the few times I am not a grumpymonster.

Another great website for great T-shirts is ThinkGeek.

Wish, I could wear this at work.

More from Think Geek

Isn't The Big Bang Theory awesome?

This one's called Beware of perverts. Must be gifted to Shojo manga heroines from their bishonen boyfriends.

P.S: I like how the prices of these shirts are reasonable and so many of them go on sale. Lovely!
